Gem-A, The Gemmological Association of Great Britain, is the world’s longest established provider of gem and jewellery education. Our prestigious Gemmology and Diamond Diplomas are globally recognised as qualifications of the highest status. Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers. Accredited lecturer for The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) Author of 'Gem and Ornamental Materials of Organic Origin' (published 2004, reprint 2010), and 'Ivory' (published 2015). The CGA is an offshoot of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (GAGB), the world’s oldest gemmological organization. GAGB (now known as Gem-A) fathered similar organizations in several countries.

Gem A Diploma (FGA) is available as a correspondence course in 2 parts (with Great Britain). Year one is their Foundation in Gemmology Certificate. The Gemmological Association of New Zealand was established in 1979 to promote Gemmology, assist Gemmologists and assist with education in Gemmology in New Zealand. We help with Gemmological Diploma courses, through either Gem-A (Gemmological Association of Great Britain) or GAA (Gemmological Association of Australia).
